Detroit Lions Super Bowl Odds: How to Bet on Title Favorites Entering TNF Week 14
For the last century, betting on the Detroit Lions' Super Bowl odds was akin to lighting your money on fire. Now it's one of the hottest NFL futures bets around.
No team has shorter Super Bowl odds than the Lions (+300), who are title favorites for the first time in franchise history amid an 11-1 start to the regular season. They enter tonight as favorites by the Thursday Night Football odds to beat the Green Bay Packers and extend their active 10-game win streak.
Here's a look at the Lions Super Bowl odds and the best bets in the NFL futures market for Detroit across our best NFL betting sites.
Lions Super Bowl odds
Live updated Super Bowl odds from our best Super Bowl betting sites entering Week 14.
The Lions entered the season as high as +1200 across our best NFL betting sites, but they seized the top spot in Week 12 and haven't surrendered it since.
It's easy to make the case for Detroit as the best team in the NFL: it leads the league in point differential (+180) while boasting the top record (11-1) and win streak (10).
It also ranks first in net EPA/play (0.28) by a wide margin over the Bills (0.21) and Eagles (0.20), who sit behind the Lions in the latest Super Bowl odds.
How do you stop this Lions offense?
The biggest key to Detroit's success this season - and across the entire Dan Campbell era - has been the brilliance of its star-studded offense.
Offensive coordinator Ben Johnson is pulling all the right levers for the Lions, who rank first in points per game (31.9) and success rate (48.6%) and third in yards per play (6.2) behind a brutally efficient passing attack and dynamic run game.
Detroit has already broken the 50-point mark twice this season, and it's scored at least 20 points in all but one game this season - and it totaled 463 yards in that lone loss. This offense is a wagon and profiles like the type of unit that could deliver the Lions their first-ever Lombardi Trophy.
Detroit defense surging amid injuries
It's hard enough to post elite defensive numbers across the first three months of the NFL season. It's even harder to do it without your best player.
That's what the Lions have pulled off since losing star edge-rusher Aidan Hutchinson, who was the NFL Defensive Player of the Year odds favorite and led the NFL with 7.5 sacks in five games before a season-ending injury in Week 6.
Incredibly, Detroit has posted the NFL's second-best scoring defense (16 PPG) in seven games without Hutchinson. It also enters Week 14 ranked first in EPA allowed per play (-0.14) and per pass (-0.18) across the entire season.
That's a testament to the work that Aaron Glenn has done with this unit at all three levels - especially with injuries to starters Alex Anzalone, Carlton Davis, D.J. Reader, and other key members of the Lions defense. If this team can earn a first-round bye and get healthy for the home strech? Watch out.
Best Lions NFL futures bets
While the Lions have the best Super Bowl odds across our best sports betting apps, that isn't the only way to bet on this group in the NFL futures market.
Detroit is still dealing at plus-money odds to win the NFC (+150), and its odds to win the NFC North (-450) imply a 81.82% chance that it claims the division crown.
You can also find some intriguing value across our best NFL prop betting sites, which feature a few key Lions stars - on the field and along the sidelines - who have been critical to the team's success this season.
Lions NFC Championship odds
Entering Week 14, the Lions are one game clear of the Eagles in the NFC standings - though the latest NFL playoff odds see Detroit as the unquestioned favorite to earn the No. 1 seed and pick up a first-round bye.
The Lions have better than 50% odds to claim the NFC's top seed according to the latest playoff prediction models at The Athletic (52%) and ESPN (68%), which suggests the path to an NFC Championship will run through Ford Field.
Detroit is 5-1 at home this season while outscoring opponents by 17 points per game on its home turf. The Lions offense is averaging a ridiculous 35.2 points at home.
Lions NFC North division odds
The Lions are only one game ahead of the Minnesota Vikings in the NFC North and two games ahead of the Packers, whom we expect to put up a fight tonight in our Packers vs. Lions prediction.
A loss tonight would certainly set back the Lions' seemingly inevitable path to a division title, but a win would improve Detroit's record to 5-0 against NFC North opponents with the Vikings on tap for Week 18 in what could be a meaningless affair.
There's a chance these odds dip if the Lions slip up, but this could also be the last time to bet these odds before they are shortened to oblivion.
Jared Goff MVP odds
Goff was trading as short as +600 earlier this season and felt like a legitimate threat to win this award, though his trajectory has cooled amid the recent surge of Josh Allen and Saquon Barkley in the NFL MVP odds after Week 13.
That doesn't take away from the former No. 1 pick's stellar season, as he's thrown 22 touchdowns to just nine interceptions while competing a career-best 71.8% of his passes - currently the fifth-best mark in a single season in NFL history.
We've already seen Goff throw for four touchdowns in a game this year, and his season passing stats keep him in the mix if he can string together a few more "wow" performances for the best team in the NFL.
Dan Campbell Coach of the Year odds
Coach | Odds (FanDuel) | Implied probability | Profit ($10 bet) |
---|---|---|---|
Dan Campbell | +175 | 36.36% | $17.50 |
Kevin O'Connell | +320 | 23.81% | $32 |
Mike Tomlin | +550 | 15.38% | $55 |
Jim Harbaugh | +750 | 11.76% | $75 |
Sean Payton | +900 | 10% | $90 |
Dan Quinn | +1100 | 8.33% | $110 |
Matt Lafleur | +2900 | 3.33% | $290 |
Jonathan Gannon | +3000 | 3.23% | $300 |
Mike Macdonald | +3000 | 3.23% | $300 |
Sean McDermott | +3500 | 2.78% | $350 |
Campbell has flirted with the top spot in this market all season long, and he's finally the rightful favorite to win this award for the first time in his career.
After a decade of playing tight end in the NFL, Campbell has been a smashing success as a head coach since he took over in 2021, though he's turned things up a notch this year after the Lions' heartbreaking loss in the NFC Championship.
Detroit is the best team in the league by seemingly every metric, and Campbell has been at the center of it all as a culture-setter and leader for the most complete group in the NFL. If that isn't what this award is about, I don't know what is.
By my money, this is the best value on the board for the Lions with a $10 wager at FanDuel returning a $17.50 profit if the voters make the right call.
