The Washington Commanders completed the first upset on Wild Card Weekend, setting up a Divisional Round matchup with the NFC's No. 1 seed, the Detroit Lions, on Saturday night. Kickoff from Ford Field in Detroit is set for 8 p.m. ET (FOX).

This Commanders-Lions matchup is one of two Divisional Round games with projected totals in the 50s. Compared to the O/U of 51.5 points in the Ravens-Bills matchup, though, this total seems to be inflated, despite involving the league’s No. 1 scoring offense.

Detroit did beat Washington 36-27 in 2022, the last matchup between these teams, as Jared Goff threw for four touchdowns. We are optimistic that having a bye last week will cool off the Lions’ No. 1 scoring offense which averaged 33.2 points per game.

The last time we saw the Lions' defense, it held the Vikings to season-lows in points (nine), passing yards (142), and first downs (14) in a winner-take-all scenario for the NFC’s No. 1 seed.

While Jayden Daniels had a historic rookie season in many respects, history has not been kind to rookie quarterbacks in road playoff games. Thus, I expect Washington will have difficulty doing its part in adding to the scoring.

Meanwhile, Washington is +390 at DraftKings. Detroit is likely to be a popular play in parlays and teasers, given its historic season earning the first No. 1 seed in the NFC in franchise history since seeding was added in 1975.
