Buffalo vs. Eastern Michigan Prediction, Picks & Odds Tonight: Week 13
The Buffalo Bulls and Eastern Michigan Eagles tangle as part of a MACtion doubleheader on Wednesday.
- The two teams have split the last eight games in the series
- However, Buffalo has taken the last two tilts at Rynearson Stadium
- The Eagles will be highly motivated, as they can earn bowl eligibility with a win
As part of our Week 13 college football predictions, my Buffalo vs. Eastern Michigan prediction expects the Eagles to be filled with energy on Senior Day with a lot at stake. There's a good chance the spread here isn't large enough.

Quick to go bowling?
The stakes do not get much higher for Eastern Michigan in this game, as it honors 12 players on Senior Day, while aiming for a sixth victory that would clinch bowl eligibility.
Eastern Michigan has developed a consistent program under head coach Chris Creighton, who is the 11th-longest tenured FBS head coach. The Eagles have gone bowling in each of the last three years (and six times in 10 years under Creighton), and if they clinch bowl eligibility in this game, it would mean they did so in the second-fewest games in school history.
Since 2016, no MAC team has played in more bowl games than Eastern Michigan, who is tied with Ohio and Toledo with the most bowl game appearances (six) in that span.
Revenge game
Eastern Michigan QB Cole Snyder is very familiar with the players on the other sideline, having been Buffalo’s starting quarterback in 2022 and 2023.
Snyder has led an efficient Eagles offense that ranks 15th nationally and leads the MAC with 223 first downs. That is a big reason Eastern Michigan averages 32:07 in time of possession compared to its opponents’ 27:53 average this season.
Snyder appears comfortable in the Eastern Michigan offense, as he threw for 300-plus yards in consecutive games against Central Michigan and Akron in late October.
Third downs and turnovers are key
Eastern Michigan ranks in the top five in the MAC in third-down conversion percentage and third-down conversion defense.
The Eagles also rank inside the top 40 nationally (and lead the MAC) in turnover margin. They are an opportunistic defense that has forced 12 more fumbles than they themselves have coughed up this season (21 to nine).
This line has moved heavily in Buffalo’s favor, as all the top sports betting sites were aligned with a spread of Eastern Michigan -2.5 on Monday morning. Based on that movement, it is possible this line jumps the fence, but I am still backing the Eagles at -1 with three stars of confidence.

CJ Ogbonna Under 209.5 passing yards (-114) ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Ogbonna averaged 125 passing yards over the first six games but has averaged 260 passing yards per game over the last four games. In that stretch, he has thrown eight touchdown passes, and finished the game against Western Michigan with a career-high 309 passing yards.
The forecast in Ypsilanti, Mich., does not bode well for either team’s chances of success through the air. With wind gusts over 20 mph and a 70% chance of precipitation, I expect both teams to keep the ball on the ground more than usual. That should keep the Buffalo quarterback in check.
This is a confident four-star play as a fade of Ogbonna’s recent success. This line is not taking into account the weather as much as it should and is instead focusing on Eastern Michigan's ranking 122nd in the country in Team Passing Efficiency Defense.
Under backers are getting great value on both the number and price by making this wager at FanDuel, as the O/U is 202.5 at Caesars (-118 to back the Under) and bet365 (-115).

Buffalo vs. Eastern Michigan line movement
The point spread for this MAC clash has gone on a bit of a journey, albeit a back-and-forth one that will likely end almost where it started. The line opened at Eastern Michigan -1.5 before dropping to -2.5, and now it's back up to -1.5 or even a pick 'em at our best sportsbooks.
Similarly, the total began at 49.5 before climbing all the way up to 54.5 and falling back down a smidge to 53.5.
